I am a sneakerhead episode 148 - @Lewismacphotography

My name is Lewis Macmichael I've lived in Edinburgh, Scotland all my life and I'm a store manager for Size? I'm massively into sneakers and photography. I've grown up with a big interest in sneakers and the culture that surrounds them because of my Dad. He was never one to queue up for releases or know the history of every model but he would buy what he liked and he enjoyed footwear for its simplest reason and that's how they looked to him. He wasn't influenced by social media or the people around him. He bought what he liked.

I always remember having Forrest hills and puma suedes growing up but I remember the first time I got a pair of OG max 1s and that was me hooked from that point. The excitment of following a shoe from that first image on Instagram all the way up to its release and getting a little caught up in the hype (as every one does) was really exciting and having the ability to learn and build knowledge with people around me kept me into it.

I have always connected more with Nike, just the wider range of sports they where involved with was always more appealing to me. I was never really into football which kept me away from Adidas and when I was growing up I never knew much about the other major footwear brands. Now I try and buy across all brands and as I'm getting older try and see myself wearing the sneakers in the future and if not I just don't try and buy.

My current top three is; Nike Air Max 90 OG infrared | Size? x Nike Air Max 95 20 for 20 | Jordan 1 banned

I’ve really liked the look of the New Balance 327 but have been a little put off by the numbers I'm seeing produced. I'm interested in seeing more Jordan 1 highs and I really wouldn't mind a pair of the next Nike x Sacai

What are your expectations of the sneaker industry for the remainder of 2020?

It's going to be a tough year for everybody. We're lucky enough here that shops are back open and releases are moving forward but we can't queue up outside shops and I think that's going to have a bit of a negative effect on the community. We will see a lot of releases being swollen up by resellers and just disappearing. I like seeing the release photos and on the foot shots that follow any big launch and I hope this can continue.

If you could change one thing in the sneaker community, what would it be and why?

There's an air of entitlement surrounding some parts of the sneaker community and the belief that some people deserve certain shoes more than others really needs to stop. The realization that missing one shoe does not mean you should jump and pay resell. Every sneaker can't be your grail. Leave the bad feelings behind and remember there will be another release next month.
