My name is Stefan. I’m 34 years old and I was born and raised in Germany but I have been living in Texas since 2016.
How did you get into sneakers? Do you remember what your first pair was?
I was born in East Germany and I remember when all the “new stuff” came into the shops. I was 6 years old when I went shopping with my grandpa and he bought me a pair of white Nikes with a purple swoosh (don’t remember the model but it was a high or mid-top). Since then I had all kinds of sneakers but I was never a sneakerhead. I remember when I was browsing through eBay 10 years ago and I saw a pair of „Nike AM1 Atmos snakeskin“ and the price of 700$ and I didn’t understand why a shoe can be that expensive. Today I know that’s a Japan-exclusive etc... I bought my pair 4 years ago and that’s when my passion began.
Do you have any favorite brands?
Honestly, I have almost every brand in my stock. But I really like the brands which produce in their “home country”... for example New Balance or Diadora. I really like that they still produce the sneakers with a lot of expertise and passion. It’s a piece of art to build a shoe in my opinion.
What are your top three sneakers you own at the moment?
I would make 3 categories:
The one that I wear the most is the NB 997 CDG coumarin... it’s not a super hyped kick but love the colorway and everything. I wear them for all kinds of activities. Lucky me I have second DS pair.
My grail is the Diadora N9000 “CASTELLERS”... I bought that pair some weeks ago for an affordable price. I wanted that shoe for sooooo long and finally, I found my pair from another sneakerhead. Sadly they’re waiting for me in Germany but I hope they come here soon.
And finally, my rarest pair is an Adidas ultraboost “made in Germany”... they made 200 pairs as a friends and family version of the “AKOG” collab. I’m really proud to own a pair like that and it has a special place in my collection.
What do you plan on buying next?
I just bought two pairs of the latest Asics x Fieg collab. Saving some money for an older release of him. Maybe the super green or the volcano.
If you could change one thing in the sneaker community, what would it be and why?'
Well in my opinion it’s not cool that most of the guys are trying to make money out of everything. I mean I also resell my stuff sometimes to make room for new shoes. But some people are not even into sneakers and they buy all the stuff to make a profit so bad. Reselling or trading was always part of the community but I would like to see that this is going back to normal.
