I am a sneakerhead episode 162 - @Roman_Custom

My name is Roman, I am 31 years old. I live in the south of France in Avignon, but I am from Limoges in the center. I have been a creative craftsman (Sneakers Customer) since 2020, but I did a lot of things before finding my vocation, as an event organizer, catering, trade, etc. But today I love what I do, and I want to continue in this voice as long as possible.

I got really passionate about sneakers 4/5 years ago. My girlfriend @nina.swoosh was already collecting air max 90, and she made me love looking for models and really caring about their stories. But since I was little I have always loved and drooled over pairs of shoes in stores, let's just say I had a different relationship with them. The pair that really made me want to collect is the Air Max 1 OG red, and the pair that marked my childhood the most was a petrol blue Reebok classic, and I'm still looking for this model. I want to clarify that I wear all my pairs, I collect but I still consider them as pairs of shoes and I use them as such.

My favorite brand is definitely Nike, I think it's pretty obvious when you look at my Instagram account :) Simply because I find that they are the most advanced in design. The silhouettes and the shapes speak to me much more than the others. I also think that the history of Nike and its collaborations, notably with Mr. Jordan, greatly influence my choices and my tastes today. I think the brand has made a huge impact on the history of the sport, and when I was young if we played basketball we wore Jordan, if we played football it was a total 90, I grew up with that! Today, more than 30 years later, the Air Max 1 is still in fashion because they know how to bring out new powerful colorways, but also to bring out retro ones that have marked the history of the pair. Let's not forget that the Air Max 1 is the first pair to have a bubble visible through a window, and when the design was proposed, the brand thought it was doomed to fail.

Giving a top 3 is really difficult for me, I love all my pairs, but if I had to select only three it would be: Atmos Elephant, the colorway, the materials, the design of the pair are really incredible, it's a pair that I wear most often. Then the Patta Corduroy, I am also a collector of this brand, I have hundreds of items but I try to remain objective and I find that this pair is a real success, the mixture of materials and colors are just perfect. Petie flat for its comfort, but let's not forget that the pair dates from 2009. The Air Max 1 Master, simply because it is the most qualitative pair that I have in my collection, and the fact of bringing together several emblematic models (Og Red / Viotech / Albert Heijn / Safari Grey / Chlorophyll / Kid Robot / Animal / Og Blue / Cherrywood / Safari Atmos / Clot 2006 / No Liner) on the same pair and to be so successful was a tall order. Special mention for the special box and extra laces, we want more!

I never know my next purchases, I am always looking for certain pairs like the Patta Purple Denim, the Parra Amsterdam, the Jewel Ruby or the big bubble from 1986 but it all depends on the price and the condition in which I will find them , so I am not sure if I will buy them even if I find them in my size. I've set a price limit that I don't want to go over, and I try to stick to it as best I can. But to be honest, I want to order an ID and make a custom for me, an MCR ...

If I had to change one thing in the sneaker community, I would just like us to try and copy the pairs that we really want or the ones that interest us, not just buy them knowing in advance that we are going. sell them a few minutes later. So it has become very very complicated to have your pair during the drop, and you often have to pay large sums if you want to acquire it. So, unfortunately, we are also obliged to do the same, otherwise, we no longer have the means to afford the pairs we want. But it has become the game, so we adapt, either we target other less hyper and expensive pairs because there are some, or we enter the game and we also try to nab pairs that we do not want to wear but which will be used to exchange for others that we really want!
