I am a sneakerhead episode 166 @rikymst
Could you briefly introduce yourself?
Sure! My name is Riccardo Masut, I am 31 years old and I live in northern Italy. I have been a passionate landscape photographer for 10 years. I also love trekking and the mountains. Here is my Facebook page: https: //www.facebook.com/riccardomasutph I have been passionate about the "sneaker game" for about 4 years, so far I have owned about 80 pairs of shoes. I love to connect photography to sneakers, this is the main reason why I created my new IG profile dedicated mainly to sneakers (@rikymst).
That's really cool! You seem to have a great variety of shoes in your collection - do you have favorite brands/models?
If you ask me to choose, I say Jordan / Nike and New Balance. Jordan because my first "serious" sneakers were a Jordan 1. New Balance for the quality and love with which it creates its products, the 991 is an exceptional shoe in my opinion.
I see. What's your favorite sneaker in your current collection?
My favorite sneaker… I change my mind almost every week! Now I answer you the Jordan 1 Dark Mocha. it's the shoe that I'm using the most in this period, I love the cw…sail, black, mocha, just beautiful together! In the second place I put the Sacai Vaporwaffle and in third place the Jordan 5 Off White. But again, this ranking changes very often haha
If you could only wear one pair of sneakers for the remainder of 2021, which would it be and why?
I would probably choose the Jordan 4 Fire Red, they are really clean and always look good on foot!
Great choice! What's your opinion on nearly all releases from Nike and New Balance the past year being raffled/sold out within minutes?
My humble opinion is that the market is mainly moving towards "reselling" and the real passion is slowly dying. From what I see 90% of those who resell are kids, trying to make money. It has become a trend and thanks to bots and extensions coping for the average user has become practically impossible, except to have luck in the raffles. Sad but true. Paradoxically, the most democratic method to be able to buy a shoe at the drop is the raffle, with the registration protected by captcha or questions open to the user.
Do you think any of this will change in the future?
Unfortunately, I don't think so ... on the contrary, I think it will get worse and worse. If apps like SNKRS or Confirmed don't become more accessible and generous, things won't change. Nike and Adidas and New Balance have to produce larger quantities and find an excellent Bot Protection, in order to lower the resell of the shoes and give more chances to everyone. But now the resell is part of the game and I don't think it will change in the future...
Final question, do you have anything particular upcoming releases on your radar?
I would like to add the Jordan 3 A Ma Maniere to the collection. Also, I will try to buy the Dunk Low Cheetah at the drop, I find them really interesting and with excellent materials. Looking ahead certainly one of the most interesting releases is Off White's "Dear Summer" made up of 50 different dunks.
