Hi Duncan! Thank you for taking your time to do this interview with us! First of all, could you please introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Duncan. I’m 24 years old and live in Falkirk; a small town in Scotland, with my family and puppy Leo.

That sounds lovely. I can see on your Instagram account that most of your collection is Nike. Is there any specific reason for that?

Yeah, about 90% of my collection is Nike currently, there’s no particular reason for it other than Nike & the Air Max 1 being my favourite. The silhouette to me is just perfect and there have been amazing colourways and collaborations over the years. I’m currently trying to buy a lot of older pairs that I missed out on due to being too young at that time.

I was Adidas only for a while in my teens and had a decent collection of Gazelles and their City Series pairs but I think that was more just a phase as that’s what everyone was wearing around here at the time!

I see. What is your favorite release of 2021 so far?

That’s a tough one! The Air Max 90 Bacon’s are definitely up there as well as the New Balance x Aimè Leon Dore 1300s.

I’d probably have to go with the 1300s so far, the quality and comfort from New Balance is on another level.

What about in general - what's your favorite pair in your collection?

The Air Max 1 Viotech, it’s my favourite shoe of all time! Nothing will ever top them for me. Everything is perfect, I love the combination of the earth tones and the contrasting Viotech purple & gold. A lot of people that don’t know about the shoe would consider it ugly but to me it’s beautiful!

The hunt for them was so difficult and felt like it went on forever. I finally managed to grab a pair on my birthday last year from a seller over in Germany.
I love anything in that Viotech colourway, I recently bought the 95s and I was really tempted by the Lebrons that just released!

Cool, congratulations on finally getting a pair! What is your opinion on the fact that nearly all Nike releases the past year has been raffled/sold out within minutes?

Thank you it was definitely a special feeling opening that box for the first time!

It’s frustrating and unfortunately, I don’t see it changing. Even if Nike were to increase their quantities demand would still outweigh supply massively. The “sneaker community” has grown in size massively and when you factor in resellers the amount of people going for every release is so high. Hopefully, the hype dies down a bit but I don’t think it will.

I’ve been extremely lucky over the past year and have only missed out on 2 pairs that I wanted for retail so hopefully, that continues!

That's awesome, it is great that some sneaker enthusiasts get a pair now and then as well! Do you have any idea of what your next purchase will be?

I can’t say for sure, it just depends on what pops up really! I‘ve got a list of pairs that I’m currently trying to work through, the pairs I’d most like to pick up next would be one of; Air Max 1 Crepe Hemp, Air Max 1 Size? Safari or the Air Max 1 Alabaster Dragons.
