Could you briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Nick, 33 years old and from a city near Rotterdam called Vlaardingen in the Netherlands. Father of a 3-year-old daughter and happily married to Kim. I’m a size 12,5/13. Makes the search for pairs hard and fun.
For how long have you been collecting sneakers, do you remember what your first pair was?
Started collecting around 2010. Bought a pair of Air Max 90 Infrared on a trip to New York. But it was not my first pair. Got a pair from my mom back in the ’90s, the Air Max 93. Think I always liked sneakers, but not as a passion as I do now. Bought a lot of pairs during this period (2010-2017), but none that really special. From 2017 it fast-forwarded. The Anniversary Air Max 1’s got me and it didn’t stop. For a few years, I have been a part of this international group called SneakerTwins US13. Great bunch of guys who genuinely help each other out because we all know how difficult our size is. And to have a good laugh as well. Have to say I’m not sticking to a certain model. Definitely into Air Max 90, 93, 95, 96, 97, 98, 180, and BW. Also, love other Air models like Spiridons for example. But most of the collection is Air Max 1.
Scrolling through your Instagram, it seems like you have a special love for Nike? Why is that?
Think of the fact I went to New York a few times started young. This brand is so big over there and so well thought. Love the way of marketing. Somehow I got hooked to the Swoosh. Like other brands as well, but when I start collecting those as well I’m afraid it will cause me to go bankrupt.
What is your favourite Nike model? Why is that?
It’s really hard to choose just one model. But if I have to choose it will be the Air Max 1. Need no further explanation I think. Just legendary.
With the 35th anniversary coming up, is there anything, in particular, you are excited about?
Hoping for some good retro’s. Starting with the Crepe Hemp. Excited about those. The rest that will come isn’t that important to me as long as the retroes are executed well. Really hoping for a Viotech. Also excited about all the new CW’s. Also, a few BW’s to take off the list. And don’t forget the Air Max 97 (25th anniversary). So it’s going to be a great and expensive year.
What is your favourite pair in your collection?
Have to be the Sean Wotherspoon AM1/97. Think no words needed. So well-executed. Pure classic!
If you were to cop one pair for retail, which would it be and why?
That’s hard. Think that will be the AM1 BRS Powerwall. Such a beautiful pair. It’s so good in all its simplicity.
