I am a sneakerhead

I am a sneakerhead episode 5 - @SoerenFrederik

Hi, my name is Søren, I became a part of the sneaker community a few years ago, around the time when I was 14. I’m currently 17 years old and I live in Copenhagen. I found my way into the community because of my good friend, who introduced me it. He started purchasing sneakers that I hadn’t seen before, all new and rare shoes and I was wowed with how cool it all was.

My parents invited me to London, where I was allowed to take my friend with me, so we were so hyped about all the rare sneakers we were going to buy. We went to London and we were both so clueless about what we were doing, I thought I was getting super rare Flyknits even though I bought them in-store, so yeah I knew nothing about sneakers at the time. This sparked my sneaker collection, even though the shoes was a normal release I was so happy about them, and I couldn’t wait to buy another pair.

The big revolution for me was when I found Facebook groups like Basement, ANS and Fundamentum. It gave me a space where I could share my thoughts about sneakers, buy/sell stuff and take inspiration from other members. I started putting a lot of time into these groups, I really wanted to help people and discuss clothing and sneakers, so I got really invested in them and ended up managing one myself.

My collection has shifted a lot through the years, I have owned about 25 pairs, and recently I got really interested in, as I call it: Quality and history. I buy mostly Asics Collaborations now, because I love the history of the individual shops and mostly the quality is insane with small details like their logo on the laces.

My favourite pair is my Asics gel lye speed x Patta x Eric elms, I picked them up recently and I have been in love with them ever since. I have all the intention in the world to keep collecting, and my next big grail is the Overkill x Asics Gel sight “desert rose”
