Last week, the nineties were full and well alive at Spain’s cutting edge sneaker and urban fashion boutique, sivasdescalzoReebok Spain chose the Spanish retailers to exclusively launch the re-release of the brand’s iconic nineties silhouette, the Reebok Aztrek OG. Reappearing for the first time in 25 years, this retro sneaker follows the brand’s re-release of other classic nineties models this year.

Originally designed as an off-road running shoe, the Reebok Aztrek was considered a trailblazer in the nineties for its technology, as well as aesthetic design. The re-release stays true to its nineties roots, incorporating elements from the past, such as Hexalitetechnology, a Diamond Stud outsole, and bright color palettes, to create a modernized throwback.

Evoking the spirit of the nineties, the Reebok Aztrek OG came back to life via a live window display performance at sivasdescalzo in Barcelona on Thursday, 19th July. The diorama display, inspired by vaporwave and artistry of the early internet, called upon two local artists to bring to life the Aztrek universe.

Local 3D artist, Boldtron, integrated into the display his experimental and vivid design creations, alongside the controversial, performance artist, María Forqué. Forqué featured as the display’s centerpiece, interacting with the creative space, while playing Alex Kidd, the popular, vintage videogame by Sega.

As it did 25 years ago, the Aztrek breaks the mold yet again. They'll soon be available at sivasdescalzo online and in-store.
