We traveled a few thousand kilometers to Dubai, to have a chat with Teemu Jarvinen, also known as @Teemu.Jpeg in this third episode:
First of all, would you mind introducing yourself
My name is Teemu Jarvinen, I'm Finnish but currently live in Dubai. I started taking pictures around 2 years ago, I'm not a professional but rather an obsessive hobbyist!
What equipment do you use for your photos?
My main camera is the Sony a7r ii. Most often paired with Zeiss 18mm f2.8 or Sony 85mm f1.4.
How and where do you find inspiration for your work?
I love big cities, so when I see a nice view, I want to capture it. I like the challenge of trying to capture a scene in the most beautiful way possible, finding the best viewpoint, light and composition. It's like a game, and you can always get better.
Do you have any favorite location to take pictures at?
I love high rooftops in places like Dubai, the whole CBD area of Singapore, and the streets of Tokyo.
What is your all time favorite picture?
One that I've taken? Probably the shot of lightning striking the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. I always wanted to capture that moment, but there's only one stormy period per year in Dubai. So last march, I recorded thousands of pics during the 3-day storm period of 2017, and just as I was about to give up, I got the shot.
