Aime Leon Dore x New Balance 1906r

The 1906r is a model that has started getting some attention this past year in terms of collabs. Given it's a "vintage runner" it only made sense for ALD to put their spin on it.

Materials: the 1906r is a model with a main focus on breathability & comfort. I will say, even though they don't focus on high quality materials, this sneaker does seem nicer than other GR's I have personally seen. The panels that cover the majority of the upper with a soft & flexible silver synthetic leather with almost a seafoam-ish green hit on top of it. In the toe area you have the same material, but in a dark green. On the toe, you have a more durable material in white. The entire upper consists of a big hole mesh in a cream that is the same color as the 860v2s they just released. Lastly, my favorite feature, the terry cloth sock liner that is very soft to touch and imo, added to the Collab feel with ALD's spin on it. All in all, I feel like the materials were nice given what the shoe is designed for.

Comfort/Sizing: the 1906r has the same sole as the 2002r, which has a nice squishy feel to it & almost molds to the bottom of my feet as I walk. I would say in comparison it is similar to boost in terms of softness, but more stable and less wobbly. I will say the 1906r feels less structured on foot than the 2002r. In terms of sizing, I grabbed these in a size 8 and they fit me perfect, but I will say if you want extra wiggle room, go up a half size bc these didn't have much room leftover.

Overall Opinion: I personally feel like this is a great replacement for those who took an L on the Green ALD 860's. The 1906r is a very comfortable shoe overall and is something I will wear if I know I will be on my feet all day & doing a lot of walking. I personally prefer more stability with my sneakers, but lately I haven't been able to wear 990's, so these have been great. I personally prefer the 860s from an aesthetics POV, but if you took an L on the 860's or are a collector of ALD, then these would be a nice addition to collection.
