This was another pair that I was originally going to pass on during the initial rollouts but when I saw them in-store at @drifthouse, I was surprised how much better they were in hand. I have a soft spot for knits & any kind of canvas product, so when I saw them in hand, they felt like a really nice option to throw on for Summer weather.

Materials: starting at the toe they went with a cracked off-white leather that looks like something you'd see on an old pottery vase with chipping paint. Moving to the stripes, they went with a cream-ish tan color with a cream suede underlay & the suede they used feels kinda My favorite part is the canvas base layer that acts as the mesh but still feels pretty breathable on foot (want to note that I haven't had any weird creasing either). Moving to the back panel, you'll see more of that cracked pattern with an exposed black panel underneath as if it's chipping away. Lastly, on the tongue they used an exposed foam w/ a pre-aged yellow foam. Small, but fun detail is at the top of the tongue on a white tab w/ Asics on the outer side & 'sound mind, sound body'. Overall, I feel like this was a unique spin on what we typically see from Asics GR's.

Comfort/Sizing: I personally find this model extremely comfortable. This model has no break in period and is comfy & soft straight out of the box. The feel on foot is very squishy but doesn't feel unstable like boost. In terms of sizing, I always get the Kayano 14 in my tts, size 8, and it has always fit my foot perfectly.

Overall Opinion: I feel like the timeframe that they released this pair was pretty on point w/ Summer. I feel like since I bought these at @drifthouse, which is near a beach, & it kind of added to the overall experience for me & really sold me on the concept. I enjoyed this pair & like how they went w/ a really unique design on an vintage model. These are still available online scattered through different boutiques.
