Asics Gel-NYC 'Cream/Cream'

The Gel-NYC is one of my favorite models in the Asics line-up. The NYC an Asics model where they typically will implement some sort of suede & a bit more premium of materials on their designs. This specific pair reminded me of a coffee shop w/ the lower part being a dark brown suede, so I implemented that vision with these pics. Thank you @drifthouse for making this possible 🫶.

Materials: the base layer of this sneaker is a thin & breathable white mesh. On the toe cap, there's a dark brown suede that wraps around the entire bottom half of the sneaker. Quality wise, the suede is pretty standard to what you expect on the GEL-NYC model. However near the back heel, there's a light brown inlay that wraps over a baby blue GEL logo that is embroidered directly into the mesh. Below the brown suede, is a silver panel, that adds a nice contrast against the white & brown hits. On the stripes, they used a similar quality white suede as the base, with tan inlays that contrast nicely with the white. Lastly, on the tongue, there's a baby blue Asics logo that is embroidered into the mesh at the top of the tongue. Overall, I really like this colorway, bc it has a nice subtle feel to it, but it also has a bit of pop with those blue hits on the pods & embroidered logos.

Comfort/Sizing: in terms of comfort, I feel like this is similar to the 1130 in terms of squish, but it has a more stable & firm feel if that makes sense. In terms of sizing, I got these in a US 8, which is my tts. I'd recommend going tts, unless you want a roomy fit.

Overall Opinion: as I mentioned previously, the NYC is one of my personal favorite models in the Asics line-up but I believe it's also one of the more slept on & overlooked silhouettes too. This specific pair has a nice, subtle feel to it, that gives it a pretty versatile aesthetic. Whether you wanna just run to the store or dress a little nicer, I feel like this pair can be pretty suitable for either occasion. This pair is currently available online now at Drifthouse for those looking to pick up a pair.
