Between this model, the 1130, & the Gel Kayano 14, Asics is definitely going to be giving NB a run for their money. I saw some upcoming pairs to release this year and really wanted to give a GR a shot since I have the AWAKE NY pair.

Materials: I was honestly pretty surprised by how nice the materials were since it is a GR. The navy suede has a soft & premium feel to it & it has a nice color change while brushing across it. My favorite touch is the Asics Stripes. They are two toned, but have a dark grey nubuck underlay with hits of a light grey suede to create a 3d like stipe logo. Idk, ik it's a small detail, but I personally think it looks badass and is a really unique feature to their Stripes. Last thing to mention would be the 3m hits. On this colorway, the silver features are all the hits of 3M. Overall, I personally think Asics nailed this one.

Comfort/Sizing: in terms of comfort, I feel like this is very similar to the 1130 in terms of squish, but it feels slightly more stable & firm if that makes sense. If comparing the 3, I'd say 1130, NYC, then Kayano 14. In terms of sizing, I bought these in a size 8, which is my tts, & these fit me perfectly. For reference, I wear the Kayano 14 & 1130 in a size 8 as well.

Overall Opinion: I personally love this sneaker. Some of the upcoming colorways that I've seen @hartcopy post recently look insane. I'm really glad that Asics is showing love to some different models like the 1130, Gel Kayano 14, & these. I absolutely love that they're putting premium materials on these models and I'm very excited to see what they do with this model in the future. My Asics pairs have been getting a lot of wear lately & I feel that the more you wear them , the more comfortable they become. If you haven't tried this model or other Asics models, don't sleep, there will be some great cws coming out in 2023.
