Kith for Asics GT-2160 'Scarab'
First off, thank you @sxhernandez for helping out with these.
I originally saw these on hartcopy a few months ago, but it was pretty quickly taken down. I will say that I'm pretty excited to finally have these in hand & at first glance the scarab is much more noticeable than before.
Materials: the upper is what we've come to expect from the current y2k runner trend: big hole mesh & synthetic uppers. The upper is primarily a metallic synthetic material with hits of scarab inlays. On the stripes, there's a metallic silver underlay with scrab & white inlays that give it a little 3D pop. My favorite part is on the eyestay. On the 2 middle eyelets it has a checkered effect in the scarab color. Lastly, on the back heel and tongue there's the 'Asics' & 'Gel' logo with a raised bubble look with a checkered background. Overall, I really like how they handled this colorway.
Comfort/Sizing: after wearing the gt-2160 consistently, i would say the comfort is similar to the Gel-Nimbus 9 & kayano 14 but not as soft as the Kayano 14. It has a squishy feel on foot but also has a feeling of firmness & stability as well. In terms of sizing, I got these in a size 8 & they honestly fit me perfectly. They're more tts than the Dime 2160 (probably due to the mesh used.) I'd definitely recommend going tts.
Overall Opinion: my favorite color is green and so far, the scarab colorway has consistently ranked as my favorite. I think with this pack, you have vibrant colors & then you have the scarab as the staple colorway of the Kith Exclusives. I really like these bc it has that checkered look on the eyestay & upper. Imo, the GT-2160 is a really cool model as it is & reminds me of Asics I used to always go running in my teen years. I'm excited to see what Asics comes up with next as they continue to climb to the top of 2023. As for these, I'd definitely say the 1130 is still my favorite, followed by these, then the Kayano 14.
