Kith x Asics Gel Kayano 12.1
Ronnie has been teasing the Knicks colorway for the past few months & I have been patiently waiting for a release date so I could pick these up. When EA came out, I copped asap 😂. I'm excited to add some miles on these & give the Kayano 12.1 a spin.
Materials: jumping in, they used a cream, big hole mesh as the base layer on this design & continuing with the vintage runner trend, the paneling is done in a metallic TPU material. The paneling is filled with grey, white, & black patterns t/o the upper. On the stripes they went w/ a light seafoam green color that almost comes off as cream with a green hue. I like how this model has the white inlays with metallic pods at the cross section of the stripes. This is a really small detail, but I feel like it's a unique spin on the Stripes that I haven't seen b4. Moving to the heel counter, there's a metallic panel w/ GEL KAYANO 12.1 & an ASICS logo below it that's embroidered into the mesh. On the back heel it kinda reminds me of a bionicle lol, bc it has a V shaped pattern that runs down the back & an 'A' resting on top of a 3m panel. Lastly, Kith branding... On the tongue, it has a clear patch that's similar to the Kayano Legacy model, but they snuck in the Kith logo beneath it, as well as on the insole. Overall, I really enjoy this model & once again, this is another shoe that I feel is perfect for Summertime ⛱️.
Comfort/Sizing: the Kayano 12.1 similar to a Kayano 14, but a little bit more firm out of the box. Needless to say, it's a really comfortable sneaker & would be an easy choice for all day wear. For sizing, I got these in my tts (us 8) & they fit me perfectly. I'd recommend tts 🤝
Overall Opinion: with this 2 pack from kith, I feel like the general consensus will be this pair but I lowkey like the Knicks pair more. Both are really clean & I really enjoy the Kayano 12.1 model. Asics are easy all day pairs & with this colorway, you can't go wrong. Although this pair is clean & perfect for summer, I still prefer that extra pop.
