Union x Nike Field General
Union is one of my favorite collaborators alongside AMM bc they're consistently designing great products & have honestly been making some bangers the past few years & a lot of folks have been sleeping. The field general they designed is another example of them deconstructing & redesigning shoes & making it their own (& lowkey a lot better).
Materials: the base layer of the š is a brown mesh that looks similar to the mesh used on gym shorts. On the toe cap, there's a tan suede that wraps around the toe cap, eyelets, & on the back heel. Beneath the suede is a guava leather that ends at the mid foot below the eyelets where you'll see Union's signature gold stitching on both sides of the sneaker. As for the Swoosh, they used a premium guava leather that feels really nice in hand. Near the eyelets, you'll find more gold stitching & the gold, UN/LA tag & also a bright red lace loop (similar to the Travis air max) but this loop is stitched in red directly into the suede eyelets. Moving to the heel counter, there's a cutout of a Swoosh below a red pull tab that covers the Nike logo on a light brown hit. Inside the shoe is a soft brown leather sockliner (Lowkey looks like a š shade) & as you dig deeper, the left insole says Union & the right pair says Nike. My favorite part is on the midsole bc the left shoe has the word Union near the back heel & right pair says Nike which is something I've never really seen. & Lastly, the tongue is a pink, exposed foam w/ a Nike tag stitched at the bottom in a red zig-zag pattern. Comfort/Sizing: the FG is a pretty flat shoe w/ minimal padding & support. It has a bit of squish on feet, but nothing too crazy. For sizing, I personally prefer an 8 for a little wiggle room, but I got these in a size 7.5 (half down) and theyre a 1to1 fit. I'd go half down unless you want extra room.
Overall Opinion: union is great for being able to deconstruct & rework any model they touch. They put their aesthetic in each pair and just execute it beautifully. This pack was a massive sleeper & didn't get nearly enough appreciation that it deserved. Don't sleep š“
