Wales Bonner x Adidas Samba

When I saw these in pics, it immediately reminded me of a fusion of high quality luxury & a bit of nostalgia. I remember growing up, I'd see people wear crocodile leather loafers or boots & would immediately connect that to luxury. To see Wales Bonner continue to play into the materials that she has been & putting it on a silhouette that isn't usually released w/ those materials has been fun to watch & be a part of.

๐Ÿ† Shout-out to @excusemejayburnz for helping me secure a W on release day bc it wasn't looking very good at first lol. Much love ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ†

Following her recent release earlier this year with the leopard print, pony hair, and so on, she was able to add croc leather into the mix & it genuinely looks really nice in hand. I was pretty blown away by how beautiful blue samba was in hand bc it has a very deep shade of blue with lighter blue shades that fades throughout the cracks. As for the brown pair, it reminds me of a fancier & louder color that you would wear on a fancy night out. Some other design features I want to bring up are on the stripes, which is a soft white nubuck that feels pretty nice to touch. Then as you move to the lace cage, she adds cream laces with gold lace tips & gold eyelets that, once again, add into the elevated feeling. The last detail I wanted to mention is the tongue bc it's done in a cream, woven pattern, that once again just adds to that luxury feeling. As for wearing these, I'm interested to see how they break in with the leather upper, but as of now, they've done pretty well with very minimal creasing.

Out of the whole pack I think the blue samba is definitely my favorite pair, followed by a tie with the Superstar & the brown Samba. Although I do feel like the retail on these were high at 300 USD, I still understand why bc when you look at the quality & details that went into the design, the price point makes more sense & I'm personally glad I bought them.

Sizing - go tts for snug fit, half up for more room or wide foot folks. The croc upper doesn't leave much space like a normal samba.
