Store Spotlight: Sivasdescalzo

At the end of 2009, four young men passionate about fashion, art, music, and technology, coupled with a shared affection for sneakers, wanted to start a conversation in Spain about their favorite footwear. With this in mind, they launched two blogs in early 2010, ‘Bambino Bambola’ and ‘Fino Garbo’, which focused on creativity and exchanges between sneaker lovers, and subsequently contributed to the growth of the sneaker community in Spain. A few months later the fifth partner, a fashion lover and trend hunter, joined the team – and that is how sivasdescalzo was born.

At a time when there was a rising interest in unique footwear and a limited number of specialist shops, sivasdescalzo became home to exclusive editions of iconic labels like adidas, ASICS, Nike, New Balance, Puma, Reebok, and Vans. To this day, the retailers carry some of sneaker world’s most exclusive drops, but over the years they have evolved to deliver much more in contemporary style. At sivasdescalzo you can find high quality luxury streetwear with the latest from Yohji Yamamoto, Rick Owens, Neighborhood, Yeezy, and Alyx. The retailers continue to add to their catalog seeking out the best in urban style to include brands like SJYP, Paterson, and Billionaire Boys Club to name a few.

That said, the recently renovated sivasdescalzo (SVD) store in Barcelona is not your ordinary sneaker store. Once you enter the minimalistic empire, the very first thing that catches your eye is the enormous two-leveled marble wall at the back of the store.

The store is build up upon two levels:

From the outside, the store has two big window displays to complement two entrances, while the halls of the store have two separate spaces with contrasting experiences. The left hall becomes a lifestyle product gallery, exposed on truss structures, cabinets, and wooden shelves. The great selection of footwear and accessories invites customers to enter into the main hall, featuring the latest releases and new apparel section, that connects with the right access. The right hall offers a multidisciplinary experience, with a touchscreen integrated in the indoor showcase’s mirror, a private fitting room, and product exhibitors.

Two staircases on either side of the store give access to the lower floor. On this floor we can highlight the geometry and textures brought by noble materials such as marble, granite, and herringbone parquet, combined with building materials such as brick, concrete, and forged steel. The contrast and the mixture of materials provide an elegant and modern look to the store’s “Premium” area. Some of the characteristics of this space include a main hall of 98 square meters with ample seating and an outdoor terrace connected to a bar-café. This elegant setting becomes the perfect location for products from the best brands, collections, and designers – a showroom of sorts. Other remarkable features include an exhibition space inside a luminously lit cage, exclusive for Nike products and launches, such as Nike x Parra and Nike x Off-White. Fancy a game of ping pong as you browse? This floor is also the home of a ping pong table, which doubles as a workspace.

This perfect combination of luxury and streetwear brands delivers a very unique atmosphere, inspiring both people living in Barcelona and tourists from all across the globe – this is not just a sneaker store, but a contemporary and urban fashion mecca.

Quality, technology, and creativity are at the forefront of this concept store, a space that blends the outdoors with the indoors. Events as diverse as product launches and brand presentations will add a spring to your step, so stay tuned to your new destination because we’re always one step ahead of the trend!

The store is in walking distance from tourist attractions such as La Sagrada Familia and La Rambla. Simply click the small pin on the map below to get the direction next time you visit Barcelona.
