Asics Gel Kayano 14 'Tai Chi'

Asics Gel Kayano 14 'Tai Chi'

First off, thank you @drifthouse for sending these over to review. They are releasing in-store today & drop online on Monday. Good luck to those going for them šŸ’›.

Asics stays true to their trending aesthetic w/ the 'tai chi' colorway, which, imo, gives a subtle nod to the yellow onitsuka tigers worn by Bruce Lee & in KB movie. This is one of the first CWs that really spoke to me since the jjjjound Collab from a few years back, but I'm also a sucker for anything šŸ’› on a sneaker as well lol.

Materials: the base layer of this sneaker is a white, big hole mesh w/ silver TPU panels throughout it. Starting at the toe cap is a silver TPU panel that wraps around the upper with šŸ–¤ inlays that give the upper a nice contrast. Moving to the stripes, you'll find šŸ–¤&šŸ¤ inlays that transitions to the heel counter, where there's šŸ’› branding saying 'Gel Kayano 14'. On the back heel, there's more 'Gel' branding in yellow sitting in the middle of a šŸ–¤ & silver panel. As for the pods, they continue w/ their šŸ’› theme and have a semi translucent šŸ’› gel on the midsole. Lastly, on the tongue, it starts with šŸ¤ mesh then transitions to a silver panel & more Asics branding in šŸ’›. I feel like with the current GR trend with Asics, this is another solid pair. When comparing to the other GR's, it has a pretty subtle change with the use of šŸ’› in specific areas, but I personally like this pair better than some of the previous colors & kinda reminds me of the hues used on the jjjjound pair, which other pairs haven't been as closely related.

Comfort/Sizing: I personally find this model really comfortable. This model has no break in period and is comfy & soft straight out of the box. The feel on foot is very squishy but doesn't feel unstable like boost. In terms of sizing, I always get the Kayano 14 in my tts, size 8, and it has always fit my foot perfectly.

Overall Opinion: I feel like the Kayano 14 has become a pretty solid everyday pair for folks & I continue to see them more & more when we're out & about. I think at this point it comes down to color preference, which in this case, this pair is one that really stuck out to me. I'm a sucker for yellow shoes & it reminded me a lot of the KB onitsuka tigers. If you're looking for an easy throw on & go pair, I definitely feel like the Kayano 14 is a solid option. Like stated previously, these will be dropping online this coming Monday at Drifthouse. GL šŸ¤
