Asics GT-2160 ‘Paris’
I'm going to be honest, these impressed me when they came in. I originally wasn’t a huge fan when the initial photos rolled out, but when they came in and I looked over them, I really began to appreciate their overall design & switched my initial opinion. The Paris 2160 is a clean cw for summer & have some pretty unique features that I didn’t even notice until I held them in hand. Thank you @drifthouse for sending these over for me to review.
Materials: the base layer of this sneaker is a 🤍, big hole mesh for added breathability. On the toe (& rest of the shoe) there’s a cream, TPU panel, however on the toe cap, there’s a peach hit that carries through the midsole & has a gradient fade that begins at the back heel. The gradient starts as a peach shade & begins to fade at the 2160 logo to darker yellow, & ends as a volt color, then continues back to a peach color on the medial side. Next, on the stripes, they went w/ their standard silver, black, & white color, on a TPU panel. My favorite part is on the tongue, because there’s a raised Asics logo w/ the same gradient that was used on the back heel. Beneath the logo is a 🖤 & 🤍 mesh that can also be found on the back heel. I personally feel like that dotted pattern adds an extra pop & really rounds off the rest of the design. Overall, I was pretty impressed when I got these in hand and was able to look over them & really appreciate the design that the Asics team came up with. Beautiful work.
Comfort/Sizing: the 2160 comfort is similar to the Gel-Nimbus 9 & kayano 14 but not as soft as the Kayano 14. It has a squishy feel on foot but also has a feeling of firmness & stability as well. In terms of sizing, I got these in a size 8 & they honestly fit me pretty well.
Overall Opinion: imo, this is another sleeper that didn’t really get the attention that it deserved. In hand, it's a clean cw w/ enough pop to separate itself into a great everyday pair, especially for the summertime (or Olympics lol) The gradient on this pair is executed well & isn't a typical cw when you think of a usual fading.
