JFG x NB 1000 'Black Ice'
Tbh, I haven't had this much fun with taking pics of shoes in a long time & truthfully I had intended on passing on this release originally, but my man @excusemejayburnz , didn't let that happen 😂ðŸ˜. I ended up going to check em out and liked the overall design so I ended up grabbing the last size 8 in-store & prolly globally tbh.
Materials: Starting at the toe cap, there's a blackish/brown leather panel. The base layer of the sneaker is a black, big hole mesh similar to the size of the B&W 9060 mesh. My favorite part is the bronze iridescent panels. They have a nice fading that changes given the lighting they are exposed to. The panels kind of reminds me of a Foamposite & has a pretty smooth feel to touch. Sitting on top is a black 'N' logo that looks like glass but is a see thru chunk which is a super dope touch. On the tongue there's a NB 1000 logo with flames behind it. Moving to the back heel, there's a decent amount of branding w/ a JFG logo at the top, NB below, & 1000 embroidered on the bottom panel (also on the toe cap). Lastly the insole... JFG went with a multicolor graffiti flame with the JFG Logo on one pair and NB on the other. Even though I wasn't a fan originally, seeing these in hand & seeing his vision made me switch up.
Comfort/Sizing: The 1000 model is pretty comfortable on foot. It has a nice, squishy feel on foot that molds nicely to your feet. In terms of sizing, I grabbed these in my tts & they fit pretty well. There's a tad bit of wiggle room, but I would still recommend going tts unless you want a snug feel.
Overall Opinion: it's been awhile since I've had this much fun with a review and it truly made me appreciate this design that much more. This cw reminded me a lot of the OG Air Max Tuned, but after looking it over, jfg was able to put his spin on it with a graffiti logo insole that reminds me of when I was a kid seeing all the graffiti being tagged & the panels remind me of powder coat paint jobs & spinners on 🚗 that used to be popular when I was a teen 😂. Overall, I'm glad I was able to pick these up and see the vision in hand.
