jjjjound x Adidas Samba
These originally "leaked" last year, but they ended up being a fake that someone was trying to claim was the real Collab. However, they really did have a Collab in the works with adidas, it just wasn't those 😂 & honestly these came out much better.
Materials: this is the controversial part, but I'ma be real with y'all on this review. On the toe cap, they went with a very soft & premium feeling grey suede. The suede has a nice color change while brushing across it. Moving to the base layer, they went with an egg shell white leather, that does feel like real leather & hasn't really creased much while wearing it. The stripes are a black tumbled leather that is also used on the back heel too. Behind the stripes, you'll find the jjjjound logo debossed in gold. My favorite part is the sock liner because it's a really soft ochre (kinda orangish brown) leather that feels really nice on your ankles & heel. On the interior you'll find another jjjjound logo on the leather insole. && Lastly on the tongue, it's a black leather tongue with an exposed foam edge. Overall, the materials they used were really nice, especially the suede.
Comfort/Sizing: imo, the Samba is a fairly comfortable shoe & has a nice arch support, but is very low to the ground as well. If compared to another model, I would say it's similar to dunk, but w/ arch support. I personally wouldn't choose a samba if I knew I was going to be out all day. In terms of sizing, I went tts and this sneaker fit me well.
Overall Opinion: everyone is wondering, was it worth the 250 retail price. Truthfully, when you look at the Gucci Gazelle, they're not worth 800, but you're paying for the brand name & experience. I will note that my pair had zero flaws or imperfections. They were able to elevate the design, but I feel like they priced the retail near what these would realistically go for in the secondary market with a normal 150 🏷️ samba. I'm personally happy with the purchase & it seems like there was decent stock, which is nice & does help with the aftermarket price not immediately skyrocketing.
