jjjjound x New Balance 990v3
I've been waiting for this release for a while. I will say the thing that stood out to me the most was the shade of the brown is gorgeous in hand. I was happy to see that jjjjound went back to a brown 990v3 since the OG pair is essentially unobtainable at this point.
Materials: imo, the materials are nice, they're what you would normally see when you think of a jjjjound collaboration. The suede is very soft to touch and has a good color change while brushing your finger across it. I found it unique that the color of the suede is similar to the 990v4 they did previously and depending on the setting of lighting, the shade of the brown changes. The main difference between the green v3 and these is the mesh on the upper. The mesh is similar to what you would normally see on the steel blue colorways that kith did in the past. I personally feel like this mesh is much more comfortable than the standard mesh, but that's just my opinion.
Comfort/Sizing: imo, the 990v3 is very squishy on foot as you stand in place but also has a slight firmness to it as well. It's a very easy sneaker to wear all day without any discomfort. In my experience, I recommend going down a half size in the 990v3. I think if I would have gone tts, it would definitely be pretty large on my foot. Therefore, the size 7.5 fit my foot perfectly.
Overall Opinion: The materials are premium, it's a 990v3, so it is very comfortable, and it is a sneaker that I feel you don't really have to style, you just throw on and go. I think the most unique feature of this sneaker to me is the shade of brown that was used. It's this beautiful mocha brown that changes from a darker to lighter brown given the lighting that you are looking at them in. I tried to capture it in some of the photos above. I will say that it's nice that jjjjound made subtle subtle differences between the 992 and 990v3. He seems to have switched the shades based on the colors. 992 green was darker, now lighter and vice versa.
