Kith for New Balance 993 'Spring 101'
I really liked the colorway of this sneaker bc it portrays a crisp & clean color palette perfect for Spring. The soft tones work off of each other nicely and I will say, once I got them in hand, they've continued to grow on me more & more.
Materials: the materials are what you would expect for a Made in US NB. The suede is soft to touch and has a nice color change while brushing across it. Around the toe & wrapping around the heel, you have a soft to touch, peyote color suede. My favorite material used is the cream suede on the medial & lateral side of the upper. Imo, it's very soft to touch & imo, was the best quality material on this sneaker. I will note a neat feature is the squiggle mesh used. On the base of the sneaker it's a greenish blue, but on the tongue, they went with a cream mesh similar to the suede (I thought this was pretty awesome, ngl) Overall, I feel like Kith picked an excellent choice of materials on this design.
Comfort/Sizing: the 993 is one of my favorite models. I personally find the 993 more comfy than the 992. It has a soft and squishy feel to it on foot, while also maintaining a nice stable feel. The 993 could easily be worn all day without any pain at the end of the night. In terms of sizing, I went down a half size (7.5 US) and they fit me perfectly.
Overall Opinion: from a design standpoint, kith did a great job with this design & material choice. It reminded me a lot of the ALD 993 but with kith's unique spin on it. I'm a little biased bc the 993 is one of my favorite models in terms of comfort & wearability. Overall, I think the design is a very clean cw & the materials were very high quality. Put that on a 993 & I'm sold. My only gripe would be how limited they seemed to be. Luckily I grabbed my pair of @goat before they mooned, but like @sockjig says, the game is the game. If you took an L on this drop & are willing to pay the price tag, then grab them bc I feel like once they're gone, they're gone.
