New Balance 991GBI
Honestly I have waited a really long time to grab this shoe lol. I was waiting for the perfect price to finally pull the trigger & luckily I was able to grab these for a price that I felt like was an absolute steal given the quality of these materials.
Materials: Flimby snapped on these & the leather quality is beautiful. In the toe area and some parts towards the heel, they used this chocolate brown leather that honestly reminds me of a high quality briefcase. It has some fluff to it, & is exactly like this briefcase my grandpa had growing up. Starting at the toe cap & wrapping around the entire shoe, they used a tougher & more durable pebbled leather. On the medial & lateral side underneath the N logo, there is a brown suede that feels nice to touch & has a nice color change as well. Lastly, I wanted to mention the sock liner, itt is a tan leather that honestly reminds me of a high quality car seat, but that's just my opinion.
Comfort/Sizing: the 991 is a fairly comfortable sneaker. It has a pretty stable feeling on foot but is also slightly squishy. I think if you're looking for something soft and squishy, I would go with another model, but if you're looking for stability, I would go with these. In terms of sizing I would go tts. I went with a size 8 and these fit my feet perfectly.
Overall Opinion: tbh, I think it's pretty wild and borderline insulting that these are on sale lol. The quality of leather that was used on this model is really nice. I honestly feel like this has a more luxurious feel to it than some collabs that have released over the years, which is crazy considering that this is a "GR". Imo, Flimby nailed this design, & the colorway is very clean while also having a very classy feel to it. If you are a fan of 991's and are currently sleeping on this colorway or have been on the fence, pull the trigger, I doubt you will be disappointed.
