New Balance 990v1 by Teddy Santis
When I saw the v2 leak of this colorway, I was blown away. For me, green, grey, and tan are my favorite colors on a sneaker, so when I saw these, this was the perfect sneaker. Idk if it’s the way the color blocking compliments each other or what, but this batch of Teddy pairs are hands down my favorite as of now.
Materials: the materials used on this sneaker are very nice overall. The grey suede that goes across the upper is a long, soft hairy suede that is similar to what is used on the Salehe 2002r. On the back heel it consists of this tan suede with the New Balance logo debossed into it. The N logo consists of a white leather that is soft, but feels more durable if anything. Lastly, the sock-liner consists of this white leather that feels pretty soft and doesn’t cause any discomfort while walking. Overall, I was pleased with the material choices that were used on this sneaker.
Comfort/Sizing: For me, the 990v1 is pretty squishy on foot. I honestly prefer this model over the 990v2 in terms of comfort. The v1 is hard to compare to other NB models but it has a feeling of support on your foot that almost molds to your foot as you continue to wear it. In terms of sizing, I was able to grab a size 8 in these and can say that they fit really well for me. I could go down a half size, but I almost prefer to just do tts.
Overall Opinion: I honestly have nothing negative to say about this sneaker. It’s beautiful, comfortable, easy to wear, and the beginning of a huge Milestone of Teddy Santis with New Balance. The materials are high quality, color blocking is gorgeous, and it’s a 990v1 which makes the shoe very easy to wear all day. I will admit, I’m pretty biased when it comes to Teddy Santis, because I am a huge fan of his work, but I will say that this and the other two models are probably my favorite out of the whole line of the upcoming pairs.
