Nike Air Max Sunder
I was excited for the return of this pair, although after trying the CDG on when they released I was a little nervous about the sizing. I will say that the sizing on these fit a lot better & this pair has quickly become one of my most worn pairs that I've picked up recently.
Materials: The upper of this shoe is a neoprene upper w/ a gradient fade in yellow that transitions into an orangish yellow. On the lateral side of the shoe, there’s a mini swoosh in black, as well as on the back pull tab. The neoprene shroud tucks away a grey sock-like liner that is well padded and can be hidden by zipping the shroud shut. Moving back to the mudguard, there’s a soft, black nubuck that wraps around the bottom half of the sneaker (note, there is a dip where the shoe would normally crease which is a nice touch to help minimize the creasing). On top of the nubuck are some smoke grey 3M panels that have perforation holes in each black circle for added breathability. On the back heel, there’s more black nubuck, but it has an embossed pattern that reminds me of a suit of armor lol. && lastly, there’s a Canyon Gold pull tab beneath the shroud with another swoosh, w/ 6453 on a black badge. Overall, this is a super dope design and given its OG release back in ’99, these were WAY ahead of their time.
Comfort/Sizing: The Sunder model reminds me a lot of the air max 95 in terms of comfort bc It feels somewhat firm, but also a nice squish feel to it that I personally have found to be pretty comfortable for all day wear. For sizing, I went up a half size in this pair bc I went tts in CDG and it didn’t work great, & I can say half up is preferred for my foot & fit much better. I’d go half up personally, but if you have a narrow or normal width foot, you should be fine tts.
Overall Opinion: it’s crazy to me that these came out in ’99 when I feel like they’re more aesthetically unique than most sneakers that have come out over the recent years. I really enjoy this model and can’t wait to pick up some more color ways as these roll out. I picked these up from @sneakerpolitics on release day & they are currently available in smaller sizes.
