COSTS x Saucony Kinvara 4
COSTS have been putting out some great designs over the past few years. If you look back at their designs over the years, they keep putting out some great collabs that deserve a lot more public recognition. Thank you @skychen8899 for allowing me to review this project, which is releasing exclusively @costs__official on 9/27 @ 10am HK time or 10pm EST on 9/26
Materials: starting at the mudguard, they went w/ a premium, grey nubuck that has a mini Saucony logo on the ➡️ pair & the ⬅️ shoe says COSTS. Moving to the toe box, there's a pretty foggy, but translucent ripstop that sits above a thin layer of mesh & this stops near the Saucony logo on the side panels. (Side note, the upper is not like recent translucent designs we've seen & has a more foggy look to it, like older React models). My favorite part of this design is the Saucony logo bc it has an iridescent panel beneath the grey suede. Moving behind the logo is a grey nubuck panel that carries on t/o the rest of the 👟. Continuing on to the back heel there's more Saucony branding followed by a rugged grey panel w/ 4 windows. Inside each window is more ripstop material, but this area is not translucent like the others. The back heel is finished off with a rope-like pull tab in 🩶 & 🤍. Another thing I wanted to note is that the midsole has a dirty/scuffed look that is pretty subtle, but also aged enough to feel like you found an old, worn pair of Kinvara 4's from 2013. Lastly, for branding, on the tongue, you'll find more rip stop (not see-thru) that transitions midway up the tongue to a nubuck panel with COSTS on the ➡️ pair and Saucony on the ⬅️ & vice versa on the insoles. Overall, I was pretty impressed with the design & really like that the toe box isn't super translucent & has a more foggy look to it.
Comfort/Sizing: The Kinvara 4 has a pretty squishy and comfortable feeling on foot. I have been wearing this pair a lot since receiving them and can confidently say, these can easily be an everyday pair of kicks for any occasion. For sizing, Id recommend going with your tts in these. I received these in an 8 and they fit me perfectly.
