Wales Bonner x Adidas Samba Millennium
I was torn on this pair when I originally saw pics, but @excusemejayburnz posted these on his story the day before release & I ended up folding & picking up a pair 😂. I definitely feel like the millenniums were the sleepers from the pack bc the quality in hand is really impressive &, imo, felt more like a collaborative design than the other pairs, even tho they're impressive as well.
Materials: the entire upper is made of a premium leather, w/ 2 different patterns. From the toe, to the midfoot, there's a soft, cream leather w/ brown stitching creating a unique (almost wave like) pattern. Moving to the back heel, there's a brown, tumbled leather that feels pretty durable to touch. On the back heel, we have her signature stitch that wraps on the heel tab with a debossed trefoil logo. Moving to the tongue, it's the same shade of brown as used before, but not tumbled. At the top of the tongue is a WB/adidas tongue tag in a dark brown & at the bottom is a brown trefoil logo again. Lastly, the sockliner... which is done using a green satin material, but it also carries through the entire internal part of the kicks, which feels pretty comfy on foot. This is my first samba millennium & as usual she nailed this design.
Comfort/Sizing: I don't really notice much of a difference between these and the samba except these feel like they have less arch support than a regular samba. The samba is a very flat to ground sneaker that feels similar to a dunk on foot. For sizing: I personally went tts (US 8) & they fit me pretty well. I would personally recommend tts unless you want a pretty snug fit, then go half down.
Overall Opinion: tbh, WB is one of the main reasons I try some of these models that she works on. I have never really been interested in a millennium until this design came out & her material choice & color combo made this feel like a fun & unique collaboration. I feel like the retail was a bit steep, but if they sold out globally on drop day, I wouldn't even be bringing this up to be fair lol. If you can find a pair of these available, I'd definitely give them a shot.
